If you’re looking for the ghost of Daniel Boone, you won’t find it in any of the My Mountain Rental Cabins; instead you’re offered the same beauty that’s always been a part of the mountains of Appalachia, where you’re hugged by a sapphire mist, known as the Blue Ridge. Anyone who spies the scene finds a sense of serenity with a choice of cabins from the basic cozy getaway to the luxurious.
Manager, Buffy Tuner, tells how she was wooed to My Mountain, “My husband’s great grandparents owned a good deal of the property that is now My Mountain. We purchased our property from his grandmother in the early 90’s and built our home there in 1998. While my husband, Eric, grew up here in Morganton, I am from the Hiwassee Dam Community in North Carolina. I have lived in the Tri-State area all of my life. Being able to work where I live is a dream that few ever realize and I consider myself very fortunate.”
Most of My Mountain Cabin Rentals provide upscale amenities that you don’t expect such as hot tubs, screened in decks; immaculate, inviting interiors, and an enticing cedar fragrance. My Mountain Cabin Rentals is located on 1,500 acres of sheer beauty that is a neighborhood of 32 log cabins, all privately owned but managed by Buffy.
“Having our office 1 mile from our home and My Mountain is very convenient for us and for our neighbors and guests. We are a hub for area information, directions, maps and recommendations for our guests as well as the traveler who is just passing through and curious. We also keep a good relationship with our neighbors on the mountain and do our best to make sure that there is harmony between our vacationing guests and the residents,” Buffy explains.
My Mountain Cabin Rentals was started by Christopher Middlebrook in 2003, and Ms. Turner has worked there since the beginning. Then, in 2015, She purchased the rental company when Christopher decided to retire. Customer appreciation shows by some guests renting 15 times over the years. Guests are given Buffy’s personal cell phone number as well as Tracy Johnson’s, the reservation manager. “Tracy and I are a team. We strive to offer the best customer service possible to our guests at affordable prices.
“We are 15 minutes or less from downtown Blue Ridge for shopping, dining and the Blue Ridge Railway, Serenberry Winery, Lake Blue Ridge, Lake Nottely, the Tocoaa River for fly fishing, within 30 minutes or less of most whitewater outfitters and the Ocoee River, zip lining, horseback riding, hiking, waterfalls, and a couple of great parks. For those who like the wind in their hair, motorcyclists will enjoy The Tail of the Dragon which is close enough to hit on a day ride.
At the start and end of the day, and all day in between, there’s the breath-taking scenery that only the panorama of the mountains can offer. Some guests come only to relax, and a retreat to the mountains is just the inspiration that writers, artists, and photographers hanker to experience. Singles, couples, families, groups—all are all welcome, “We make friends with our guests,” Buffy assures.
