Earth Day Paddle
Dawsonville, GA. The Mountain Conservation Trust of Georgia has organized a scenic 9-mile paddle trip on the Etowah River. Paddle through the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area, a region teeming with birds and other wildlife, and home to the Cherokee and Etowah Darters, which live nowhere else in the world. Bring your own boat or rent gear from Appalachian Outfitters. Shuttle is $15 per canoe/$10 per kayak. Meet 9:30 am at the take-out point, Kelly Bridge Road in Dawsonville. Chatsworth, GA. Lace up your sneakers, lean forward and get ready for the 3rd Annual Tear Drop Half Marathon! Start on top of Fort Mountain at an elevation near 3000 feet and finish in Chatsworth, Georgia, for an over 2000-foot drop for the Half Marathon. For more than a decade the Cohutta 100 has been a staple in endurance mountain bike scene. You’d be hard pressed to find an ultra endurance mountain biker who hasn’t raced the Cohutta 100.
